9 Bullets (2022)

Updated: Apr 27, 2022

My quick rating - 3,1/10. Needed a half-pay attention flick while I was working. I did pay enough attention to know it wasn't very well made. The scenery was nice for a little tour of parts of the USA that aren't typically shown on film. But the things that happen are not realistic and not well written. The acting actually isn't too bad in this one focusing on Lena Headey as a former dancer trying to turn her life around but getting caught up saving her neighbor's kids' life. So the two must go on the run since the pathetic excuse for the criminals need to get their hands on the kid's crapple (Ipad) to retrieve the stolen money. This is the big distractor here, the plot is edited so poorly that you seriously may get lost due to scenes either missing or being placed out of order. Yes, it forced me to stop working and rewind a few times to make sure I wasn't zoning out and sure enough, it was just plain terrible editing. Literal jumps in time and plot with no explanation. And let's not mention that this movie has been made repeatedly over the years, and done far better than this. There is nearly no action to speak of with most of this being more drama. Aside from Headey and the kid, this movie would be even more abysmal but the two do their best to save it. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen and you are left with a what about this? and how in the world that??? types of questions until watching the end and maybe quoting me saying "Give me a break". Pass on this one even if you are a big fan of Lena Headey as I am. The rest of the flaws will just anger you along with Sam Worthington not being able to keep his accent straight. Side note, please find me the mob crew that allows one of their own to get shot and killed in front of them, jumps in the car, and leaves with no retaliation? LOL, that is the type of flick you are getting into with this.
