My quick rating - 5,5/10. Simply put, this is made solely for the zombie action. Zack Snyder is a good choice for all fluff and no thought, and making it about an hour longer than need be. Maybe he could just direct and let someone else write the thing though. I mean, a billionaire hires a ragtag group to retrieve his 200 million in cash from a vault in the walled-in, now zombie city of Las Vegas. Ok, good joke, the streets of Vegas often do seem to be lined with zombies. But first, why break in to get cash when you already OBVIOUSLY have more money than you know what to do with? Oh, of course, ulterior motive. And then when you watch and find this out, you'll realize there were about a hundred easier ways to accomplish it. I'll stay spoiler free but it is stupid. I could most likely list a couple dozen things in this flick that make no sense but I am sure there are plenty of articles on that topic already. They are often and really pointless in this one. Dave Bautista is our main man which is a nice choice for this one, but the remainder of the cast, especially his daughter, are quite annoying. Ok, I am being critical, Matthias Schweighöfer as the nerdy safecracker and Omari Hardwick as the other muscle guy had a decent comedic chemistry to this whole ridiculous adventure. But all of this is really just there to show off scene after scene of zombie killing action, which does look spectacular btw. If you think you will avoid any of the tropes having a pro behind the helm, you are wrong. Every single one is present and a few new ones added. But let's face it, you aren't here for a story (luckily) nor character development (pathetic attempt) but you just want to see a zombie Tiger!!!! And the good news is you will and guess who steals the show every time on camera. A CGI zombie Tiger LOL. I was entertained but this does NOT redefine the zombie genre and more felt like it set it back a bit. This budget, and that product. Hire some people to help out next time and don't try to litter the marquee with Snyder. And don't make saving someone so important and forget to let us know what happened to her.
