My quick rating - 4,2/10. I was pretty set in a far lower rating until about the last 10 minutes. So yes, it tried to pull out all the stops but a little too little and so on. UP until then, what we have is a narcissistic chick who can't get a job, I mean "influencer" who decides to up her game and have her boyfriend capture on video her personal demonic possession. This is her plan to get a gig in a movie as a psychic. Or maybe she got it and needed to solidify it. Not real clear. Anyway, he is out of work and has the time, and she finds an ancient statue to use in her summoning of the paranormal. But instead of just being for show and tell on youtube, it looks like the real deal has been contacted and has a fascination with him, not her. There seems to be some story of where this wood doll came from and to further investigate they bring in an actual medium to bridge the two worlds and find answers. Throughout this whole flick is exactly what you expect, with some low-budget spirits and fairly flat jokes. What you also get is the would-be director of her movie. He is the biggest straight rip-off of James Francos "Alien" in Spring Breakers. Since there is a twist or two sprinkled in I'll be vague in case you don't see it coming from a mile away. I will say that if you do make it to the end of this tripe you are treated to a good ending, well compared to the rest. It really is too bad that they didn't have any of the flair and creativity of this finale throughout the rest of the production. It really felt like a whole new crew was brought in.
