My quick rating - 5,2/10. This one sat on my list for a long time so finally, it is out. Let's see if it is worth starting off #shocktober this year. Pete Davidson looks a bit out of place in this already. Oh, and they are having a hurricane party. I didn't put this on due to that, just a coincidence. Well, that is part of the setup, a group of young adults getting together for that reason. Playing a game of "who is the werewolf" turns into a generation laZy version of Scream. At least the filmmakers here are also making fun of the way they act at the same time as embracing it. Oh my lord, this 15-minute whine and ramble session for no apparent reason while a killer is running around is so terrible. This flick started off fine with the whole, "who is the killer" mystery vibe rolling along and then came to a screeching halt. The characters are all so damn annoying that you really don't want to sit through entire scenes breaking each one down over and over. If you are like me and think you are going into a Gen Z slasher, turn the bus around since this is far more of a character study of each of the participants and the cliche they represent. I believe every stereotype you expect in this type of flick is present and to their credit, the actors do just fine in representing them. The problem with doing a good job of that is irritating the hell out of you in the process. You can nix the quality kills off the list since they are all after the fact and merely used to push the big twist that I am POSITIVE the writers think they are genius for coming up with while I had my suspicion of it fairly early on. The movie is made well and they use the stuck in the singular house well with a good reason to be stuck helping that plot play out. But this whole thing goes way up and way down in these categories to just end up being "there." Quite odd that they actually put the outtakes into the movie ending which gives you an idea of how confident they really were in this one. Still calling it horror since it falls into the genre but just barely.
