My quick rating - 7,1/10. It is hard not to recommend this flick, especially now. It has everything you have been missing for summer blockbuster, it just happens to be finally hitting your home screens in November (supposedly on HULU 2021 for an 8 figure buy out deal). No idea how I have it but that isn't the point. Easiest way to put this is "Shoot 'Em Up" lite + "Groundhog Day". In other words, action from top to bottom that is so far from realistic it is fun. And a sprinkle of comedy to add to the monotony of reliving everyday over and over. Especially since they typically end in him dying in a bloody heap. Frank Grillo is the heavy here, and he is finally getting his due since he has been one of Hollywoods most underrated actors for years now. Lo and behold, Mel Gibson turns up and actually puts in a decent performance as well. Michelle Yeoh even joins in the fun as a.....wait for it, expert swordswoman. What transpires is a wife purposely puts his ex-husband into a machine where he gets stuck in the fabric of time. So for reasons unknown to him, he repeats every day over and over to get it right. Hence the title, and ALL gamers are familiar with this. We play the same level over and over so many times we can do it in our sleep. Same rules apply. So the trick for Grillo is to get everything right to win the game, so to speak. ALong the way is some good action that is slightly dragged down by mediocre CGI but if that is your biggest complaint, then you have found a good flick.
