Death Valley (2021)

Updated: Jan 5, 2022

My quick rating - 4,8/10. Sure seemed to be inspired by the Resident Evil games. The creature design was above average. Had a familiar look but wasn't some CGI creation which I am always glad to see. Unfortunately, the acting was fairly bland throughout. Then again, this is a Shudder original so the budget will be minimal. The action though is pretty satisfying to offset this. The usual experiment in an underground bunker story where something goes wrong and the government needs to send in the mercenaries to clean it up. They of course go in heavily armed and basically ready to kill whatever they run across down there. Or so they think. It plays out in a very similar fashion as others such as this and ends up being watchable at best for action/horror fans but surely won't be on the radar of anyone else. Giving the plot a little twist that there is no way you don't see in advance of the ending was a nice attempt but as I said, no one is going to be surprised. For free, I am sure you'll be fine for a single viewing but considering Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is sitting right across the virtual aisle, I cannot see why there would be much of a quandary on what to watch.
