Extraction 2 (2023)

My quick rating - 6.9/10. I enjoyed the first one for the action, so let's see what the sequel brings. The good news is I enjoyed this one a slight bit more than the first, even. Extraction 2 is an adrenaline-fueled sequel that improves on the foundation laid down by the first film and propels us on yet another adrenaline-packed ride. If the first one was a thrill ride due to its intense action scenes, be prepared for something even more exciting this time. The movie gets off to a flying start and delves straight into its gritty and dangerous world. Action sequences, long and well-choreographed, fill the screen, leaving you gasping for breath as you watch awe-inspiring feats of stunt work, adrenaline-fueled gun battles, and heart-stopping hand-to-hand combat. The action is carefully calibrated so that every step of the way, the sequence can be executed with perfect precision, showcasing the amazing physicality of the characters. I was also quite impressed with the location and scenery. The film takes us on a world tour, moving you from exotic locations all around the world. From the bustling streets of a sprawling metropolis to the remote, breathtaking landscapes of the distant countryside, the visuals contribute significantly to the overall atmosphere and tension of the film. Chris Hemsworth once again shines in his role as the charismatic protagonist. His portrayal of Tyler Rake is both physically commanding and emotionally balanced, allowing the audience to connect with his character on a deeper level. The supporting cast also delivers commendable performances, adding layers to the story and elevating the stakes in their pursuit of survival. While this flick undoubtedly raises the bar in terms of action and spectacle, it does face some pitfalls. The plot, at times, succumbs to predictability, and certain character motivations might leave you wanting more complexity. However, I forgot about these shortcomings, which were quickly overshadowed by the relentless pace and the film's unwavering commitment to delivering edge-of-your-seat excitement. Overall, Extraction 2 successfully ramps up the intensity and solidifies its place as an explosive action sequel that doesn't hold back. The long, well-executed action sequences, combined with its captivating locations and improved character dynamics, make for an engaging cinematic experience.

Recently released on Netflix and I believe some theaters over there are also carrying it.
