My quick rating - 7.5/10. Where has this Christmas movie been? We have a stressed out Santa who is just trying to make ends meat (Gibson). Factor in a spoiled teen millionaire brat who gets everything he wants (Hurstfield). Well, what do you get? A completely down to Earth story where Chris Cringle has to take a job with the government to use his mass production skills to make some extra cash while last delivery day, poor Billy gets coal for his present and decides to hire an equally upset hitman to "kill the fatman." This flick is such a great mixture of comedy, fantasy and ending off with action I have seen in quite sometime. The road to hunting down Chris, and finding his base of operations is a fun trip while the wonderfully created relationship with Mrs. Clause, or as she goes by, Ruth is so touching down to the end. The fantasy of the elves is handled so well with such a matter of fact realism to it (and a jab at children labor abroad) it just puts a smile on your face. This was so far out of what I expected to see that it is necessary to say we may have ourselves another Xmas classic in the making here. Who doesn't want to end the holidays with a bloody gun battle involving Santa? Perfect if you have teenage kids as well that have just outgrown the Grinch, and haven't matured enough to respect it again like they did as kids. Grab your copy and enjoy!!
