Forget Everything and Run (2021)

Updated: Jul 4, 2023

My quick rating - 3,8/10. Getting to this one finally since I shut if off a couple of years ago. It does start off with an exceptionally lazy setup so put your reading glasses on. A terrifying infection is released, and one family will fight to save their children against a band of marauders, hellbent on revenge in the midst of a deadly apocalypse. A lot of really stupid decisions are made by the people who are supposed to be the survivors which are only done to make a movie out of this. It doesn't help that the acting is subpar and the majority of this is more dialogue with the attackers as opposed to action. Marci Miller was the main focus but was consistently handed dialogue that just didn't fit the situation. It makes it hard to really side with anyone in this group of survivors since their motives were unclear. Not because that was part of the plot, but more because they didn't really explain the whole apocalyptic setting they were stuck in. Speaking of, the scenery for this was quite bland spending a great deal of time inside this cabin. When they did get outside, at least there was snow on the ground. The struggle that is the focal point is just that between the family who happen to be bandits and them striking back against bandits who come to loot them. I think there is a term about fair play here. Of course, they do realize they will have to work together to survive against the zombies though. I think the writer/director Jason Tobias and his counterpart Geoff Reisner may have been onto something had he just given the whole thing a bit more thought and development. The budget restriction wasn't really a concern unless it was. Maybe that explains away the lack of action and/or development, who knows? I just walked away from it thinking I have seen far worse but this could've been far better. The title is odd since running is not something you see much of in this movie at all LOL.

A few streamers have this but Amazon is cheapest (minus Tubi for free with ads)
