My quick rating - 4,2/10. It sounded interesting and I like to see what is going on outside the USA movie scene. This flick enters the realm of international cinema with a premise that holds the promise of intrigue and mind-bending exploration. Offering a refreshing departure from the typical American movie scene, this film attempts to delve into the uncharted territory of abnormal phenomena and reality-bending experiences. While the central idea is intriguing, the execution leaves much to be desired, resulting in a cinematic experience that falls short of its potential. I was keen on the idea of accidentally allowing rifts in time to be created while discovering a new material substance, but the way this movie went about exploring it was so off. The narrative follows a group of eclectic heroes assembled by an enigmatic billionaire, drawn together to venture into a mysterious, closed-off perimeter teeming with inexplicable anomalies that defy the laws of science. It's a setup ripe with potential, as the characters are poised to undergo a transformative journey that challenges their perceptions of reality itself. Led by Viktor Dobronravov playing Ethan Blake, give acting performances within the film range from passable to mediocre, failing to fully capture the depth and complexity that the characters demand. The ensemble cast, while diverse, struggles to establish meaningful connections with the audience, which ultimately hampers emotional investment in their journey. I will also put some of that blame on the dubbing which didn't seem to have a lot of enthusiasm put into it for most of them. Unfortunately, the film stumbles in its execution, particularly when it comes to its handling of time travel. The film's exploration of temporal mechanics lacks clarity, leaving audiences perplexed and struggling to grasp the mechanics of this crucial element. The confusion surrounding the concept of time travel detracts from the overall coherence of the storyline, resulting in a frustrating viewing experience. Visual effects play a pivotal role in creating a sense of wonder and immersion in science fiction films, and "Forgotten Experiment" unfortunately falters in this aspect as well. The inconsistent quality of CGI detracts from the believability of the world-building, undermining the film's attempts to transport viewers into its intriguing setting. One of the film's more significant missteps is its pacing, particularly in the resolution of the story. The finale is needlessly extended, causing the film to overstay its welcome and test the patience of its audience. This extended ending detracts from the impact of the narrative's conclusion and left me with a sense of frustration rather than satisfaction. I just saw the whole thing as a missed opportunity to showcase their realm of science fiction cinema but instead was only left with a confusing mess.
