My quick rating - 7,1/10. A Godzilla flick rating that high, and not for campy reasons? You can be sure of it. I am highly surprised, not because visually it is like being smacked in the eyeballs with a sledgehammer but they actually added enough to it to make it more than the epic battle you are here to see. Not only will you get that, but they actually came up with a better side story to heading to the center of the earth than "Journey to the Center of the Earth" did. There of course has to be a reason for these two to do battle, and that is where Millie Bobby Brown and crew come in. Apparently the evil Apex labs is up to no good, and she is there to figure out what that is, again. She was a part of the last encounter in the Monsterverse in Godzilla: King of Monsters and along with her comedic sidekicks discover what they are up to in the basement of the lab. I won't spoil that since I don't recall if the trailer shows anymore so I will say that there is some decent nods to the original Godzilla lore and where the story began in the first place. But really, are you watching or reading this to find out about the highly complicated plot devices used? Hell no, it is for the monster brawls and here you will get that in spades. Fleets of ships destroyed, you can wipe Hong Kong off the map. Just consider these places a playground for these two behemoths. Sit back and enjoy. I am sure there will be more of these, and if they keep looking this good, it will be while before I bore of them.
