Horror In The High Desert (2021)

Updated: Apr 20, 2023

My quick rating - 3,5/10. The mockumentary setup for this flick is actually pretty well done. All the points are for the believable nature of the setup as this Gary Hinge guy goes missing. The characters all seemed realistic and ordinary and you could see it being an episode of Dateline. Unfortunately, Hinge is by far the worst acted of the bunch. His name won't be important, it'll never be seen again. And this does scrape the low end of a 4 only because of that since after they try to get to the scares and actual point of this, it falls apart. Zippee, time for found footage although I won't bother with the usual reference since it is only a small part of the movie. All of this leads up to Hinge and his love for the outdoors, and exploring is an excuse to attempt to make you think he found something terrifying in the middle of nowhere, Nevada. Between the no-better-than-your-home cameras' night vision and extremely poor makeup effects, you are then stuck with a massively disappointing ending. After a decent build-up like this, I at least wanted an interesting idea of what he was looking for or found. Instead, you get basically nothing. I won't spoil it in case you are a glutton for punishment or still have to see every found footage crap out there but either way, expect the worst.

If that makes you want to see if, Amazon Google, and Youtube are the only choices.
