My quick rating - 4.5/10. In the very near future (2023). That was my note from the movie, not me playing "voiceover guy." Being only a couple of years pushed ahead, it follows a very plausible scenario and takes it to an extreme. After the pandemic, a new chip is being tested (not sure if this was some strange conspiracy theory) and implanted in people to monitor basically everything. As it started, my only thought while looking at my firecube was to imagine taking that and placing it in your head. Except without saying anything to prompt it to speak, this thing just started chit-chatting when it felt like it. As expected, things don't go as planned, and this takes on the computer's run amok scenario, just plays its way through. I say it like that since it really is just that. A fairly mundane story of the A.I. wanting to get rid of everyone involved in "her" design to be free. But this involves a couple of lame kills, nothing overboard in the slightest, and more just an average performance by Michelle Girolami carrying the whole thing. They did attempt to add a bit of intrigue with another guy who has the implant (and male Alexa) in his head to try and stop her, but that was merely a side point and underdeveloped. Much more of a sci-fi or thriller that snuck into #shocktober by accident. The horror would be having this voice in your head talking with you all the time. Overall, just a routine flick that may have been an adequate episode for "Black Mirror" but really didn't need to be stretched into a full-length flick since it didn't have the breadth of a story to back up the time.
