My quick rating - 5,9/10. The quick synopsis caught my attention. The flick centers on the sisters as they initially use the machine to discover music from the future and place bets, before realizing it will best be used to help fight the Nazis. But when the sisters clash, the consequences are catastrophic. This has to be the first found footage film I have seen where the recordings are from the 1930s-1940s. The sisters played by Stefanie Martini and Emma Appleton invent this machine to see and hear things from the future by grabbing them off the airwaves, first off, some Space Oddity by David Bowie and the obligatory gambling. But when they realize they can use this knowledge to drastically alter the current world war going on, they jump at the chance to assist in helping Britain. However, only Thomasina (Appleton) knew what the potential consequences could be. This is the rift mentioned above as the things that Martha (Martini) had fallen in love with now were gone. As you expect with those time travel movies, the changes being made to the war efforts start to have a butterfly effect on the future. The black-and-white look to accompany the frame of the camera give it that authentic feel they were going for. I really just wish they had done more with the story itself. This wasn't a budget-type constraint since everything worked just fine but with such a great idea to work with, writer/director Andrew Legge really dropped the ball in what could've been great. The paradox that was created still was interesting enough to entertain through the end though. The acting did leave a bit to be desired especially conveying the gravity of what they were doing. I would still call this one a worthwhile watch since it brought a novel approach to a genre that I loathe. It really didn't play out like your typical found footage either so I suppose making that comparison isn't exactly correct. If you do run across it down the line, check it out.
