My quick rating - 6,3/10. Nope, I hadn't seen it, and the reason I had it. I remembered a scene in a desolate LA shown, and this movie was one of the 3 that I had not seen in the spectacular documentary "In Search of Darkness." So out of the 4+ hours, I had only missed those few. Anyway, LA was desolate because in this flick, as Halley's Comet passes near the Earth and we are caught in the tail of it, mysteriously the population is decimated. Most people are turned to dust, some are in limbo as zombie-ish beings. Don't fret, this isn't another zombie flick, that is a mere mention for the most part. This is far more a dark comedy that gets stuck between 80s Valley girls and a really bleak world. Definitely had a lot more in the underlying theme to be said than what was on the surface. And hey, I remember when the comet went by, and it was a big deal. A bit nostalgic for us old people as well ;)
