My quick rating - 7,6/10. Cannot get enough Psych. Thank you Peacock+ for bringing this one back for another mystery. If you are unfamiliar with the show, well, shame on you. It is one of the great recent comedies to hit cable in a while starring James Roday Rodriguez as the psychic detective, Shawn, and his sidekick Dulé Hill who goes by many amusing nicknames but for title's sake, his name in the show is Burton Guster. As per usual since leaving the business back in the show's days on USA network, something comes up that suckers them into solving yet another mystery with their (lack of) skills and overpowering comedic force. This time, the search is for baby Gusters mother's estranged husband...that is a mouthful. It is explained further as to the why in the movie. But in finding him, they are led into a bigger cover-up. This one is a lot more about the character interactions instead of solving a crime though. It is truly remarkable that a show can so easily just pick right up where it left off and not skip a beat. It has to do with such an incredible cast and the cohesion the actors have with the writers. The constant humor mixed with all the cultural references keep you entertained throughout the entire flick. I don't believe you would have to see the show to keep up at all, since on its own, the flick is still plenty captivating and you would really only be missing out on some of the character exchanges that make more sense knowing Corbin Bernsens relationship with his son (Shawn) for example. But being the third film so far since the end of the TV run, I personally hope they keep them coming. Such a delight to know it is straight-up wholesome comedy to watch and doesn't need much more. I really don't need to say anymore just check it out and Suck it!!!!
