Pulse 3 (2008)

My quick rating - 3,7/10. Judging by how crappy the second one was, I am sure this will be fine for viewing while I am working. If you need background noise as well, click the poster below or you can catch it on TubiTV. I have to just assume this is the last we will hear from this trilogy. Admittedly this one was better than the previous sequel but still suffers from the same problems. The horrendous use of CGI backgrounds for scenes is still rampant in this flick which is so distracting. You really won't realize how annoying it is until you see it so blatantly used for no apparent reason. At least this time they decided to develop a story around two of those that were affected by the initial flix story. Here we have Justine (Brittany Renee Finamore) who is living with her foster parents and just yearns to escape the technological void world she lives in and makes contact with some guy who you meet in the opening that has survived the "pandemic" and wishes to meet up to save her from her boring life. I personally found the whole thing making fun of people on AOL meeting in chat rooms and believing who the person on the other end actually was, but this slowly turns into seeming like the dude on the other end is a pedophile. Not sure what they were actually nagging at but it doesn't much matter to the story. She ventures off on her adventure to the city, which they name Houston, on foot. From where? No idea. What this movie and the sequel do not address is how in the world after most of the population has been wiped out is there this magical wifi network still exists. There isn't really any power to speak of outside from personally generated, so who knows? But again, this is more about trying to meet up with this guy, Adam, for reasons only known to her maturity. The jump scares are in limited amounts and the whole movie plods along to an even more implausible ending. The ghosts aren't focused on enough and do not appear that often but for one scene that really does give a good jolt. The time she spends with the preacher along the way is by far the highlight here. If you made it this far, you may as well watch but it is only marginally better than the last.
