Reno 911!: The Hunt For Qanon (2021)

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

My quick rating - 5,7/10. I was a big fan of the 2003 Reno 911! show when it was on and glad to see they brought the group back for a movie. Hope it does the show's humor justice. And the verdict is, it does while does not. The problem I have is that much of the movie's flair is more or less rehashing previous jokes, scenarios, and the like that were funny and still are but no new viewer will appreciate any of that. The story itself has a ton of potential to be great. The crew from Reno 911! go undercover on a Q-Anon booze cruise to infiltrate and take down the infamous Q. The sheer amount of comedy material just knowing that is endless and yet somehow this extremely talented crew finds a way to let it fall short. I know my rating doesn't scream out crap, but I also know I am extremely biased and can see how others will gladly drop this down a ton. Some of the jokes are too reliant on previous character knowledge and others just didn't work. Very much an up and down affair for me. The show was absolute comic perfection for a few years but I would think with all the free time since their last fling in Reno 911! Miami they would be returning with a bigger and better effort. Instead, I put this one below even that. Definitely, some good quick hitters that can fly by so fans of the show will most likely hit the same spot as me but newbies beware. This just might not hit the same accord. The musical number was pretty well done and caught me off guard. But for those wondering, the whole crew is back (no Nick Swardson surprisingly) and I suspect this might be the last hurrah.
