My quick rating - 3,8/10. Watching the whole movie is a true test of your patience. The whole movie is only 103 minutes but so little is ever happening that enduring that seems to take far longer. For reasons unknown in a place that clearly has more than one moon (at some point someone mentions seeing the Earth in the sky, so figure another planet lol) a group of survivors from again, something unknown are attacked and overtaken. Since the movie doesn't bother with telling you these things, you just get to piece it together. I'll guess Mars, with breathable air, well, sort of. Some slight explanation to the air is given by the male intruder that ends up shacking up with the mother and daughter after killing the husband. This is the extent of the action, and it is at the beginning. After that, Ismael Cruz Cordova is the invader that attempts to convince Sofia Boutella and her daughter Remy (Brooklynn Prince) that he means them no harm but we know sooner or later there will be ulterior motives. This all plods along with little to nothing going on minus Remy playing with a robot with a neverending power source on a barren planet that has water flowing all around. If you haven't noticed, this movie has some serious problems with explaining any form of reality to its science fiction. After Cordova finally shows his true colors and intentions which make little sense without explanation of what is going on, they struggle for dominance of their little frontier abode. I suppose I'll stop before spoiling anything but figure it out, man and woman...barren planet. I am sure you can guess what he wants and what happens. Than there is a very much rushed ending that zaps you years into the future to wrap up something you never knew existed or cared about. I liked how the movie looked, and thought the acting was pretty decent. Clearly a low budget deal so it is quite convincing when you see where ever they filmed this as a martian landscape. The good news is if this is on Mars, we are all set to head there any day now.
