Shazam! Fury Of The Gods (2023)

My quick rating - 6.2/10. Even though I'm more of a Marvel guy, it's time to check this one out. The flick is an entertaining and action-packed sequel, building on the success of the first film. The movie takes us on a wild ride as we follow the adventures of Billy Batson in being Shazam and trying to balance his superhero life with his normal teenage existence. And the casting was also one of its strong features. Zachary Levi is perfectly cast as the lovable, goofy superhero, and his chemistry with the rest of the cast rings true throughout the film. Strong performances from the supporting cast, including Lucy Liu and the phenomenal Helen Mirren, add depth and heart to the story. One of the things that really stood out about this movie was the outstanding visual effects and action sequences. The fight scenes were well-choreographed and exciting; using my favorite candy, Skittles, to tame a unicorn is a fun, somewhat creative touch that deserves a bonus point. The relationships between the various characters-Billy's foster family, his superhero colleagues, and the villainous gods-make for a reasonably well-developed movie. This Shazam sequel constitutes a fun, enjoyable movie that both fans of the first movie and franchise newbies alike will definitely enjoy. It's not a perfect movie by any means, but it is a worthy addition to the genre of superhero movies generally and a great way to spend two hours in front of the screen.
