My quick rating - 8.0/10. You cannot honestly go and rate something like that. Just a really festive special with a feel good story. Well, minus the kidnapping. It is so funny how even still they cannot take the Troma out of James Gunn. The opening musical number with his brother Sean Gunn just has that sense of humor and feel to it. THere is actually a story going on in this one. Thinking that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) had his Christmas ruined when he was younger by Yondu (Michael Rooker) his fellow Guardians, Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) decide to get him a very special present. Their idea is to bring him the person that Quill has bee telling tons of stories about formhis childhood. So off to Earth they go to kidnap Kevin Bacon. From this premise alone, Gunn is able to come up with a fully satisfying holiday treat for fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Most of the usual characters are along for the fun and to enjoy a Xmas in another galaxy. There is a decent amount of comedy involved as the two heroes think they can just go about business as usual on Earth. Being a fully budgeted affair does lead to some decent effects along with a heartwarming little tale as well. The musical numbers are a fun ride and we are also even given a major origin story for Mantis to round out the 42 minutes holiday special. Definitely worth checking out.
Currently streaming on Disney+ for the holiday season.
