My quick rating - 5.1/10. Figured I better check out a Xmas horror flick on the proper day. Luckily I keep a playlist all year long of them. More often than not, when they hit this playlist, they suck so wish me luck lol. Just finished The Mean One. Definitely better than the 3.9 IMDB has on 12/25/23. Wish the horror aspect was a bit more polished but still fun for xmas. In a sleepy mountain town, Cindy (Krystle Martin) witnesses the murder of her parents by a blood-thirsty green figure in a red Santa suit. Twenty years later, the Christmas-hating monster begins to terrorize the town once more. Cindy finds new purpose in stopping the creature and saving the holiday. If the cover is bringing up images of a Christmas classic, it should. This is a very loose parody of the Grinch brought to us by director Steven LaMorte. There was a bit too much of the off-screen kills for my liking but they were often followed up with a bloodbath of an aftermath. But it was always so comic book or cartoon-like that you never see it as gory. Possibly budget restraints or the fact they were attempting to make a safe R rating for the theatrical release (which strangely this flick did have.) The film is cheesy as can be but it never attempts to take itself seriously which makes it quite fun. The acting seems purposely awful to give an entire array of stupid characters. Chase Mullins has to be commended for his role as the detective because he brought the amusement. And who better to play the mean one other than David Howard Thornton who you may know better as Art the Clown from the Terrifier flix. I guess he isn't a fan of roles without makeup of some sort. The movie isn't great mind you but if nothing else, you will be entertained for the entire 92 minutes. I didn't feel cheated for my Xmas viewing with this one and I am normally let down by these unheard-of holiday films I took away on playlists. Not this time.
These streamers have this one for a range of prices for rent or rent LOL.
