My quick rating - 3.6/10. I had some decent expectations for this one. Both stars are good actors and also play comedic roles well. So the casting choice was perfect. But after that, all is pretty much downhill. Spencer seemed like she knew it, as often her facial expressions looked more like "get me out of here" than "hey, this is fun." Whomever wrote the script completely missed the point of what was to be achieved. Instead of empowering the female superheroes, the focus was on their weight. And yes, that is part of the fun, but seriously, spend two solid minutes on them getting out of a sports car? Just one example of many that, instead of being a passing joke, they try to ram down your throat. Anyway, after these two long-lost friends are reunited, and one has set their sights on becoming a hero to avenge her parents, the wrong friend, Mccarthy, gets the serum to make it happen. And then the hijinx begins. I needed an excuse to use that word. I liked the idea of glossing over the before (and pls don't lead to a prequel) of basically everyone that is pathologic is granted super powers. So now everyone has become deviants, although we are really only focused on a small handful. One of which is Jason Bateman as crab man????? Not really sure what his power was, but suffice it to say, it appears to be an idiot running around with giant pinchers. After the overwhelming urge to turn it off passes, the movie continues downhill. Quickly.
