Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead (2023)

Updated: Aug 20, 2023

My quick rating - 5,7/10. I started watching the anime of this show and then a live action dubbed version popped up so I have to check it out. We get a completely different look of what to do in case of the zombie apocalypse in this flick. A far more humorous look that is. Ok, the zombie shark is GREAT, very imaginative idea. After Akira (Eiji Akaso) takes on a new job where he is worked nearly non-stop, he finally gets a day off in the form of a zombie apocalypse. First off, this dream job that Akira gets is hilarious. The animated version dweeled on it a bit more but it is basically a corporate sweat shop. They leave for dinner and drinks at happy hour and then turn around to head back into the office. It is portrayed in such a humorous way that you could tell early on that there was going to be little seriousness paid to the actual horror element that most zombie flix entail. But it is nice to take a different role every now and then and I enjoyed this one a fair amount. After Akira is given this new lease on having a social life (without people that is), he decides to start getting things done. A bucket list if you will. So in the midst of being surrounded by the walking dead, he just carefully goes about his business of accomplishing those things his office career life wouldn't allow him to do. It is all just for fun and leads to some pretty funny moments along the way. I did wish they would've mixed in just a bit more of the red stuff to remind us that these zombies were still dangerous instead of ramming the romantic side of the relationship with a woman (Mai Shiraishi) that he meets down our throats. Her character was well played out and gave plenty to get behind as far as a heroine goes but they were just to gung ho on what you knew was coming in the loving aspect. The ending does get quite silly and as I mentioned while watching, has a pretty damn creative nemesis to dispatch. Still worth the time to watch hif you want something a bit quirky to give you a chuckle.

Looks like Netflix is the only place to check this one out.
