Mimesis (2011)
My quick rating - 4.9/10. I have never heard of this one, but it sounded interesting and popped up on Radarr. "A group of horror fans find themselves unwilling participants in a nightmarish role-playing game that pays homage to a classic horror film." Even if it is only for a cameo spot, it is great to see Sid Haig . It is over-the-top unbelievable in execution, but if you can get past that, it is actually quite fun. Justwatch has a few streamers, including Amazon . Mimesis

Nate Bargatze: Hello World (2023)
My quick rating - 7.6/10. Actually got a run of work, so thought I'd pop on a new stand-up show. The comedian Nate Bargatze , the self-proclaimed "Nicest Man in Stand-Up," brings his signature affability and good-natured aw-shucks vibe to his third special (this time on Amazon ; the previous two are on Netflix ), which stands out among the darker, more confessional, and more cynical stand-up of our moment. He admits that most of his information about the world “does not c

Children Of Sorrow (2012)
My quick rating - 3.5/10. Only a couple more left of these After Dark ones I missed. Another handi-cam flick, this time chronicling a group of young adults' time with a cult in the middle of nowhere. WOW, this is friggin' slow. I really hope this is building up to something good. I realize that some woman ( Hannah Levien ) has infiltrated this wellness camp in the desert to attempt to find her sister, but they have hardly even touched upon that since it first started. Bill O

Scream of the Banshee (2010)
My quick rating - 3.8/10. Still nipping away at the few After Dark flix I missed. And immediately shows Syfy presents, which was not a good sign at the time this was made. Nor are these "special" effects I am presented with right away behind this obnoxious camera filter. Hey, look, Lauren Holly . She plays a professor who finds a weird box that they claim has markings of Templar origin. The opening scene gives us a clue about what is inside. Lance Henriksen as well. I hav

Sanatorium (2013)
My quick rating - 3.6/10. The poster gives evidence of After Dark, which is another one of them I missed. Looks like the old paranormal investigator, found-footage flick again. Is there some unwritten rule that the ghost hunters have to all be a bunch of obnoxious assholes that you cannot decide which one you want to get disemboweled first? Price discrepancies on this one, so check out your streamer for the lowest since no freebies are listed. Sanatorium (2013) #horror #IMDB

Ip Man 3 (2015)
My quick rating - 7.7/10. Even if you are not a fan of so-called "kung fu movies," this is the type of film that will make you see past the punches and poor dialogue. The film is basically a tutorial in fight scene choreography from start to finish. Each move and counter is so perfect in both the physical action and the camera work to bring it to the audience's eyes. Even with all the fighting going on, there is a story about an aging martial arts master of Wing Chun who is f

Bedlam (2015)
My quick rating - 4.0/10. I realized last night that there are a few After Dark Originals I haven't watched yet. No better time than the present. You can check this one out on a few FREEBIES or Amazon of course. Bedlam (2015) #horror #IMDB #Plex

Assassin Club (2023)
My quick rating - 4.8/10. I tend to jump at any flick with Noomi Rapace in it. She always plays the femme fatale role so well. Although in this one, she seemed to be practicing different accents for some reason. Henry Golding appears to be someone Hollywood is trying to push, but I don't think action is going to be his niche. At least not in this flick. The setup is fine, although you have seen it before. An assassin gets himself set up in a sort of game against all the oth

The Tomorrow Job (2023)
My quick rating - 4.0/10. It looks like a low-budget sci-fi flick that is going to rely on the story as opposed to fancy effects to entertain us. Desperate editing cannot hide the awful effects and stunts they are trying to play off as happening. Some of the worst fight scenes I have also ever seen. Putting aside the obvious budget restraints and bad decisions, they did come up with a good concept. Director Bruce Wemple presents a highly conceptual take on how his idea of ti
