My quick rating - 4,4/10. SO boring. If it wasn't for a really good performance by Anna Kendrick, it may be a #turkey. I think even I am being too generous with this one since so little happens throughout this whole flick. The whole thing is a very subtle cry for help by Kendrick as her "man" (Charlie Carrick) is controlling her life. We see these moments happen through occasional flashbacks while she is on a trip with her girlfriends for a birthday weekend. It is quite tough to try and convince an audience that there is abuse going on when this movie is trying to allude to it without ever showing any substance to it. TO be honest, until she finally broke down to her friend 3/4 through the movie, I wasn't even sure what the point of the flick even was. There are some clear emotional conflicts between the friends and there places in each others lives which for the majority of this flick seemed to be the focal point. And when the shift finally changed and the real point was revealed, I personally was bored. I still was hoping she would go apeshit and cut the dudes head off but the fact they categorized this as a thriller is criminal. There isn't a moment of tension that doesn't involve you begging the screen for something to happen. As I thought about this one after it was over, I am actually not even convinced that the dude was necessarily the controlling asshole at all but possibly they are mislabeling this, and she was actually just a psychotic nutjob that was creating a fantasy of a horrible relationship. There was so little evidence of the jerk that he was supposed to be up until the very last scene that I don't really know. But regardless of my asinine theory or the actual point, it is just a real snoozefest.
All usual streamers including Amazon have this one for $6.99.
