My quick rating - 6,2/10. I am fairly sure I know what to expect. Fast X is a roaring comeback for the Fast and Furious franchise, proving that lightning can strike twice even after a letdown like F9: The Fast Saga. Producer Justin Lin's return to the helm keeps new life flowing into the series, and with the addition of Jason Momoa as the formidable antagonist, the film reaches new heights of excitement and intensity. The movie picks up with Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family, who have been through it all - from heists and espionage to daring races and impossible missions. The action sequences in this installment are electrifying as ever, but what sets this installment apart is the emergence of a deadly adversary from Dom's past. Jason Momoa delivers a commanding performance as this terrifying threat, fueled by blood revenge and hell-bent on destroying everything and everyone Dom loves. It is uncanny how they keep working in past characters' connections to be malefactors. Momoa's presence in the film is a massive highlight. He brings an imposing physicality and a palpable sense of menace to the role, making him a worthy and memorable adversary for the family. With his deep, rumbling voice and intense stare, Momoa's villainous portrayal is both fearsome and captivating, elevating the stakes and adding a layer of complexity to the story. The chemistry among the cast members is one of the film's greatest strengths. Vin Diesel's portrayal of Dom Toretto is as solid as ever, portraying the character's unwavering loyalty and protective instincts toward his "family" with genuine emotion. The returning cast members, including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Jordana Brewster, effortlessly slip back into their roles, infusing the film with the camaraderie and banter that we fans have come to love. The dream cast continues beyond the mainstays as Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, and John Cena are also back. Stay watching through the credits if you think they are missing someone, wink wink. The action sequences are heart-stopping and inventive so who cares if they often defy every law of physics known to man? Louis Leterrier's direction showcases his mastery of the fast-paced, high-octane spectacle that defines the franchise and easily slides in after directing plenty of his own flix including the first two Transporter films. From breathtaking car chases through exotic locations to gravity-defying stunts that push the boundaries of plausibility, the film is a rollercoaster ride that keeps the adrenaline pumping from start to finish. One area where "Fast X" truly shines is its ability to balance action with emotional depth. As the family faces their most dangerous foe yet, the film delves into themes of sacrifice, resilience, and the strength of familial bonds. Still embracing the series' signature style of larger-than-life action and a dash of self-awareness, amidst the explosions and adrenaline-pumping races, the characters are given moments of introspection and vulnerability, creating a more meaningful and engaging experience for the audience. As with any "Fast and Furious" film, some of the stunts might defy logic, but they undeniably deliver thrilling entertainment that fans have come to expect and enjoy. In conclusion, we have a triumphant return to form for the franchise, providing a much-needed boost after the disappointment of its predecessor. Jason Momoa's powerful portrayal of the villain(if you haven't noticed, he was that damn good), combined with the adrenaline-pumping action and heartfelt performances from the ensemble cast, make this installment a standout in the series. Buckle up for a wild ride that will leave you eager for more Fast and Furious adventures in the future. Ok, at least one more although I read it might be 3.
