My quick rating - 8,0/10. You will never look at John Cena the same way after watching this one. Heck, just after the clearly TikTok-inspired intro you'll be wondering if you really can't see him LOL. If you didn't see Suicide Squad (2021) , Peacemaker is one of the anti-superheroes from that flick. This pretty much immediately follows that movie although it isn't really necessary to check it out first before jumping into this show. Cena plays a guy who is at TOP physical performance for a human being in nearly all aspects. So, no, he doesn't have any powers to speak of. He does however have an insanely strange character that kills people to have peace, is overly in love with glam rock, and has ABSOLUTELY no filter on the things that come out of his mouth. That peak performance physically does not apply to mental ability though and his lack of intelligence is often a main part of the jokes. Going beyond that, having some characters even further down the smarts ladder also leads to some great humor. There is no possible way to deny that James Gunn has not nor will he ever get TROMA out of his sense of humor or style of directing and that is what makes him great. Don't listen to idiots that just don't understand how good many of their true releases are, not the stuff they just distribute but the stuff that Troma actually makes. So top-notch at being campy on their budgets. Gunn's Tromeo & Juliet has to be seen to be believed and some of that silliness transfers over to this crazy alien taking over the world flick. The action is very comic book-influenced and there is no shortage of gore to be had from start to finish. The cast is very diverse and each has a pretty unique personality to get to know. I was very surprised at just how good this show ended up being but I guess with the pieces they had in place, I shouldn't really be. Looking forward to season 2.
