My quick rating - 7.2/10. Talk about consistency with these spin-offs, they continue to churn out these 7s (in my opinion) with each having different strengths and weaknesses. This one is by far the least dramatic while still keeping character interaction important. It also hits a bias of mine by having a very Escape from New York feel to it. This one follows Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world. Their "relationship" is forged out of a need as Maggie seeks out Negan to help retrieve her son from one of Negan's old followers, The Croat (Zeljko Ivanek). You would have to watch the original show to understand why these two teaming up is a stretch to think they would work well together but it is also the point. TWD is consistently trying to teach us that people deserve second chances and there is good in everyone, so pairing the two was a no-brainer and something that was always an underlying theme during the show. I thought the law officer chasing Negan side story was poorly done and was my only downpoint in this. Nothing against the job that Gaius Charles did as officer Armstrong, just the story didn't really gel to well with the rest of the rescue mission to me. Still, even when TWD universe isn't quite as good, it is still great entertainment.
