Oculus (2014)
My quick rating - 6.4/10. Well-made and acted out film that includes your scares, some misdirection, and nice flashback material into the plot fairly seamlessly. It's nice to sit back and watch a movie that intends to scare and make you think without trying to give a gorefest. As you all know, I love me some brutal violence, but it isn't always necessary. This movie's focus is on a mirror that basically encompasses and possesses those who gaze into it. When a family is en

Creed Iii (2023)
My quick rating - 6.7/10. I enjoyed the other two, so why not? Oh, that was supposed to be some surprise? Please, I saw that a mile away. No spoilers, but c'mon now. Aside from that hiccup of thinking, this is a decent entry into the series. I did see this one as a minor step down from the first two, though. The buildup, having Creed ( Michael B. Jordan ) retire from boxing on top and moving into training, is a logical move. At this point, he is visited by an old neighborhood

Trepidity (2022)
My quick rating - 3.5/10. This is a short film that popped up in an article I read. Sounded interesting enough. Definitely an homage to the 80s horror flix, camera work, filter, and all. Even added the purposely corny acting by our leading ladies. Amazon has this one for a 99 cent rental if interested. Trepidity (2022) #horror #IMDB #Plex

Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me (2023)
My quick rating - 6.5/10. I recently watched Chris Rock's show , where he touched upon the whole "slap" thing, and this is a perfect companion to go with that one. Marlon Wayans has a connection to all involved with that Oscar moment, and much of this routine is about that. The entire presentation is well-crafted to tell his story and is done to interject his jokes along the way. Definitely timely now, but I am not sure this would hold up for years to come due to much of it

Gravedancers (2006)
My quick rating - 5.7/10. One from the After Dark film festival, which was THE premiere horror movie showcase for a few years back then. According to my database, I watched this, but it was a shitty quality version back then, so an upgrade came along, and to be honest, I don't really remember it anyways. It did come back to me, especially the refresher of a horror flick with Dominic Purcell . This small group of friends gets all drunk after a funeral and decides to head to t

Furies (2022)
My quick rating - 6.1/10. Sometimes posters set you up for one kind of movie, only for the film to head in a completely different direction. Furies looks like it might be a Vietnamese spin on Charlie’s Angels , but once the opening unfolds with a brutal assault and the murder of a mother, it’s clear this is not a playful spy romp. This is a revenge-driven action flick with trauma and blood at its core. And as it turns out, it’s also a prequel to Furie from 2019, though, con

Murder Mystery (2019)
My quick rating - 6,2/10. After watching the Mark Twain award presentation for Adam Sandler , they reminded me quite a few times that the sequel for this one was coming soon, so I figured I'd better dig into that new release folder and check this out. I am always up for a good old-fashioned mystery flick, and this is really all this sets out to be. Teaming with Jennifer Aniston , the couple has perfect comedy chemistry on screen, and the script offers them ample time to be

Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich (2018)
My quick rating - 5.5/10. The latest in the not-so-popular Puppet Master series is in the same silly vein as the others. If you haven't seen them before, the plot is quite simple. Killer dolls. The thing that sets these movies apart is that the makers don't even attempt to use special effects to make the dolls appear lifelike. Meaning, unlike Chucky, no CGI or effects are used for the killer dolls. They are just moved around to look cheesy as all hell for the viewer's amuseme

Night Of The Tommyknockers (2022)
My quick rating - 4.5/10. The writer/producer of this flick, Sonny Mahal , was kind enough to send me a couple of screeners, this one included, so I thought I would check one of them out. It starts out with a ridiculous shootout after a robbery where a stand-off between the posse led by Richard Grieco faces off with the local sheriff and a dozen armed men. They are about 15 feet from each other and are able to MISS constantly, making the A-Team look like marksmen. Aside f
