Penance (2009)
My quick rating - 3.3/10. True events? Just popped on Radarr and caught my eye. Seems a woman fills in for a friend as a stripper and instead is held hostage in a found footage style flick. I was surprised when our main character, Marieh Delfino , got picked up by a limo driven by Tony Todd , so they did throw some money around on this. There is a group of woman who are there to audition for someone and do their routine to be judged, without music. Very odd watching the girls

Lola (2022)
My quick rating - 5.9/10. The quick synopsis caught my attention. The flick centers on the sisters as they initially use the machine to discover music from the future and place bets, before realizing it will best be used to help fight the Nazis. But when the sisters clash, the consequences are catastrophic. This has to be the first found footage film I have seen where the recordings are from the 1930s-1940s. The sisters played by Stefanie Martini and Emma Appleton invent th

Brotherhood of Blades (2014)
My quick rating - 6.5/10. I have read good things about this before, and I thought a change of pace would be nice. Unfortunately, the English dubbing is way off, and this is the Blu-ray, so aside from software time shifting, there isn't an easy fix (in other words, I'll try at some point). The action in this is well-choreographed and edited to a tee. The camerawork to film the scenes makes each look great and fits in with the epic nature of the music chosen during the battles

Wicked Games (2021)
My quick rating - 4.4/10. Having Cold Beer Friday as your production company is a sure way to grab my attention. They got a damn nice location for filming this flick, I will give them that. Wicked Games attempts to be a thrilling and intense horror film that takes audiences on a suspenseful journey, but instead ends up flailing about in its missed chances. Written & directed by Teddy Grennan , it offered potential right from the start with our protagonist. This tale revolves

Alex Murdaugh: Death. Deception. Power (2021)
My quick rating - 4.5/10. The narrator sounds like he really has to go to the bathroom throughout the whole documentary. Just wasn't a very well-made documentary. There didn't seem to be any information or interviews from anyone who was actually involved in the case. I didn't get any feel for the legal side of things going on, and when they did want to give those details, it was text only to read. Pretty disappointing stuff. Only a few streamers are carrying this one with ad

The Kingdom (2007)
My quick rating - 7.2/10. This one sounds familiar, and if it is the one I am thinking of, I know it is good stuff. Yes, this definitely was the flick I was thinking of. The film does a great job of giving solid action that is choreographed very well, along with laying down a political commentary to back it up. The cast was solid top to bottom, with no single person standing out, so why not name the main players? The movie begins with an attack on a foreign compound in Riyadh

Polite Society (2023)
My quick rating - 6.3/10. Polite Society is a light-hearted and entertaining flick that follows the journey of Ria Khan ( Priya Kansara ), a martial artist in the making, as she embarks on a mission to bail out her elder sister Lena from an arranged wedding. Together with the help of her friends, Ria decides to plan a wedding heist, which stems from her own need for experiences in independence and sisterhood. Although the movie has its light-hearted and lovable instances and

Follow Her (2023)
My quick rating - 4.6/10. Let's see what Bec picks for us tonight. It doesn't take long before you have plenty of reasons to hope Jess, played by Dani Barker , is the first to be killed. I felt like all they did was rip off Black Mirror (not sure if they did it directly or not), but it definitely had the earlier seasons' vibe to it. Barker runs a video log cam site where she makes money by what appears to be faking things for her viewers, such as S&M shows or something alon
