House Of Darkness (2022)
My quick rating - 3.5/10. Well, the first 40 minutes are just straight-up dialogue between two people, and even though I am a fan of Justin Long , what they were discussing wasn't exactly thrilling banter. Nor was the flick fooling me into thinking something was going to happen. 80 minutes of the 88 minutes are talking. Sorry for the spoiler, but it is just plain boring and misleading. The whole movie is based around Long giving a lift home to Kate Bosworth , and as the two

The Menu (2022)
My quick rating - 7.0/10. When I saw the trailer, I was very intrigued, so now I can feed that curiosity. You can check this one out on HBOMax among a couple of other various streamers for $14.99. The Menu (2022) #thriller #IMDB #Plex

Enola Holmes (2020)
My quick rating - 6.5/10. I have been meaning to watch these flicks. I definitely enjoyed this one and found the asides directly to the audience by Millie Bobby Brown were a nice touch. Here she plays Enola, and while searching for her missing mother ( Helena Bonham Carter ), the intrepid teen uses her sleuthing skills to outsmart big brother Sherlock ( Henry Cavill ) and help a runaway lord. The mystery is aimed at a bit lower target audience than a Knives Out audience, b

Who Invited Them (2022)
My quick rating - 5.0/10. Not sure why this is billed as comedy/horror since there is not entirely enough of either of those things to qualify it for that. This is your prime example of doing just enough to make a passable thriller that you aren't going to complain about, but still aren't telling your friends to check out. This flick ended, and I said, "That was a pretty good made-for-TV movie." That is about the extent of the feeling it conveyed. Our writer/director, Duncan

Aliens, Clowns & Geeks (2019)
My quick rating - 3.0/10. I have NO idea what to expect with this one. But I will first make sure you all know I don't do drugs. And even if I did do drugs, I still don't think this crap would be funny. The story is directly out of the mouth of a child with a good imagination. Aliens and clowns are both chasing after a secret relic to rule the world, which pits them against each other. But to develop a kid's dream, our author/director Richard Elfman has to throw in some perv

Alice In Borderland: Season 2 (2022)
My quick rating - 8.0/10. I didn't review the first season, so I'll try to do a combined review without spoiling anything. That is far easier said than done, especially with a show that spends the entire first season keeping you completely in the dark about what is going on. First off, I will say that the first season, to me, was better than the second, so I think an 8.5 and a 7.5, respectively. It really doesn't matter much, so the whole thing is so good. So the basic idea i

The Roundup (2022)
My quick rating - 7.2/10. Ma Dong-seok (or Don Lee for a more Western name) stars in this gritty action flick from first-time Korean director Sang-yong Lee . For a debut behind the lens, it isn't going to get much better than this. The "Beast Cop" returns as this is a sequel to The Outlaws , which I will admit, I haven't seen yet. Don Lee may be familiar to some from Eternals , where he played the hard-hitting Gilgamesh. In this flick, he plays a South Korean detective who

Detective Knight: Redemption (2022)
My quick rating - 4.2/10. This time it seems the heist takes place on Christmas, or at least all the criminals dressed up like Santa Claus. Again, don't think I needed to make it a holiday flick, though. This one takes place immediately after the events of the first one, so for continuity, you would want to watch them in order. And with that being said, I am a bit limited in the setup since it relies on the ending of Rogue . The start of this flick really gets you hyped for w

Chronicle (2012)
My quick rating - 6.9/10. Barely missing the 7 mark, and only because the camera sometimes forgets it’s supposed to help us see things. Chronicle takes the overused “teens get superpowers” setup and actually makes it feel fresh. So, suspend disbelief, grab your Dramamine, and dive in. Three high school buddies accidentally acquire telekinetic powers after poking around a glowing hole in the ground (always a great idea). At first, they’re just doing what any of us would—playin
